When it comes to choosing a water purifier, a lot of people don’t have clarity about the types available in the market. There are innumerable varieties available, some are with storage, some without, some use electricity, and others use activated carbon. To find out the perfect purifier for your needs, read on!

Online Purifiers:

These purifiers are fixed to taps and are portable, and have a filter candle that purifies water. As they need no electricity, they have a lower running cost, but the filter needs to be changed every month.

Offline or Storage Purifiers:

Offline filters also do not need electricity or plumbing and use a combination of sediment filters and activated carbon filters. These can store around 18-26 litres of water, proving very helpful in areas without the continuous supply of water.

Reverse Osmosis Purifiers (R.O.)

Grand+RO+UV Cut out
Reverse Osmosis Purifier uses carbon filters along with a special semi-permeable membrane. The membrane works effectively to remove Bacteria, parasites, salts, Pesticides, Rust, Heavy Metals, Arsenic, Fluoride and other impurities in water. It results in reduced TDS and pure drinking water. R.O. Purifiers employ 5-6 stages of purification, which are:

Stage-1

5 Micron Sediment Filter: With only five micron rating it is effective in removing dirt, rust and sand particles.

Stage-2

Granular – Activated Carbon Filter: It takes out 99% of the chlorine and organic chemicals. It provides enhanced taste, odour and colour.

Stage-3

1 Micron Sediment Filter: With only I micron rating provides effective filtration to protect your membrane performance up to 95% of TDS rejection.

Stage-4

Post Carbon Filter: This carbon post filter removes objectionable tastes and odours to enhance the quality of your drinking water.

Stage-5

Ultraviolet Water Sterilizer: Ultraviolet light (U.V), a natural part of sunlight is widely as reliable, efficient & environment friendly solutions for water disinfection.

Stage-6

Bio Plus Aaa Filter: This filter adds essential minerals to the water that are generally removed by the RO during purification process. It enhances the PH, reduces ORP, remove free radicals, removes bacteria and viruses.

Best used for: Homes and offices, where the water is hard and has a lot of heavy salts.

R.O Purifiers are installed in different places based on their output. Below are the criteria that should be kept in mind:

  • If the output is 20 LPH/ day, it can be used in homes for 5-14 people
  • If the output is 25 LPH/ day, it can be used commercially for 15 – 40 people. This is suitable for use in institutes and small offices.
  • If the output is 50 LPH / day, it can be used in offices and sports areas for 50-100 people
  • If the output is 100 LPH, it is suitable for more than 100 people. This can be used in schools, offices and colleges.

UV Purifier

4 stage UV Water filter copy
This is an electricity based purifier that uses Ultraviolet rays to filter water. It works on bacteria, viruses and other living microorganisms in water, providing clean and safe water. It also uses carbon filter and reverse osmosis in addition to Ultraviolet rays. It inactivates bacteria and viruses, but they still remain in water in a harmless form. UV Purifiers do not reduce the TDS of water. The UV Purifiers have 4-5 stages of purification:

Stage-1

5 Micron Sediment Filter: With only five micron rating it is effective in removing dirt, rust and sand particles.

Stage-2

Granular – Activated Carbon Filter: It takes out 99% of the chlorine and organic chemicals. It provides enhanced reduction taste, odour and colour.

Stage-3

1 Micron Sediment Filter: With only I micron rating provides effective filtration to protect your membrane’s performance up to 95% of TDS rejection.

Stage-4

Post Carbon Filter: This carbon post filter removes objectionable tastes and odors to enhance the quality of your drinking water.

Stage-5

Ultraviolet Water Sterilizer: Ultraviolet light (U.V), a natural part of sunlight is widely as reliable, efficient & environment friendly solutions for water disinfection.

Best used for: Any place where the water needs to be absolutely pure.
